Angel - Tattoo artist and piercer (They pierced Asher’s bridge and convinced David to repierce his ears, also gave Milo and Sweetheart matching tattoos behind their ears)

Babe - Boxing Trainer (Milo is one of their clients. David also comes to Babe’s gym and they box every month or so)

Freelancer - Barista (works at an on campus coffee place)

Darlin - Drum Coach. (It’s not an actual business, they just get asked to coach, and then get paid. But they can say no to any offer so it’s a very casual schedule)

Lovely - Used to be a substitute teacher. But is now looking for jobs, and is interested is becoming a bartender.

Asset - wants to be an astronaut (is constantly asking Anton about stars and constellations - he bought them a astronomy book once and it’s their favourite thing ever).

Honey - An accountant.

Sunshine - A lifeguard (and yes, I did this to spite Elliot’s near-death. I thought it was funny when I thought it up)

I was scrolling thru my old posts and found the one about the boys coffee orders and… I disagree with my former self. So…

New and Improved Redacted Coffee Orders

David

It started as a red eye, no sugar, no cream. Eventually he graduated to a black eye. There’s a small coffee shop across the street from the den that he frequents. The staff knows him by name and, while most of them were scared of him to begin with, seeing how giant he is, they warmed up to him. He’s very polite to service workers and tips very well. The owner started keeping his favorite brew (a light roast single origin from Coast Rica) well in stock. Most days, when he comes in, the barista decides how many shots he needs based on how tired he looks.

Frappe all day baby. He knows that there isn’t a lot of caffeine in those, but he’s already hyperactive so it balances just fine. He has a taste for chocolate, but always tries the seasonal ones when they come out. While the baristas hate making his order, they love his personality and always make his, as he puts it, with “extra love.” Ash claims he can taste it.

Cappuccino. Sometimes with a pump of flavor, most often as it comes. Milo is an espresso snob. The man is Italian. Whenever they go to a new coffee shop he orders a solo to see how it tastes. He refuses to drink Starbucks espresso. Will be an asshole about how to pronounce coffee terminology.

(As a side note, Darlin’ orders straight espresso shots and takes them like actual shots. Milo is always horrified and tries consistently to get them to sip it but they simply won’t.)

Sam

Caffeine doesn’t work for vampires, but Sam just likes the taste of coffee. He’s a conoceré who loves fruity notes, unwashed processed beans, and dark roasts. His favored form of preparation is a French press, but he recently got a very nice syphon set up that he’s still figuring out. He takes his coffee with cream and a bit of sugar.

Vincent

Iced lavender lattes. Listen… Vincent is fruity. He’s a fruity fruity man. He likes it sweet and he will take it iced no matter the weather. There’s a late night coffee shop he frequents whose baristas think Vincent is an incredibly attractive gay insomniac.

William

William is more familiar with the early Parisian style of cafes than he is with American coffee culture, and he absolutely misses that. William staunchly stands by the idea that Le Procope was the first cafe in Paris, and that he drank coffee with Voltaire. He loves noisettes (espresso with a drop or two of cream) and has one nightly after dinner.

Huxley

Hux doesn’t drink coffee, but he does call the energy drinks he drinks coffee which drives Damien insane. Dames has started passive aggressively bringing Hux cups of black coffee when he asks instead of his Monster flavor of the week.

Damien

Iced coffee, no sugar, no cream. He drinks it iced because no matter how fresh the coffee is, it still feels a bit tepid to him. Drives him crazy, so he sticks with iced. When he’s feeling a little wild, he’ll add some oatmilk.

Lasko

Canonically, he drinks a doppio americano. I like to think it’s because he is too nervous/ conscientious to ask for something more complicated. He drinks it with two sugars and cream, but he doesn’t really enjoy the taste of coffee. Just the utility of it. Freelancer tries to get him into other drinks, and he enjoys the things that they get, but he never has the nerve to get them for himself when it comes time to order.

Gavin

Gavin has absolutely no interest in coffee. Caffeine does nothing for him, and he doesn’t like bitter things. What he does have, however, is a massive sweet tooth. He likes boba, but the fruity bursting type. His and FL’s favorite coffee shop is a small cafe that serves a wonderful selection of boba. He mixes it up often, but his go to a pink lemonade with blueberry popping boba.

Morgan

Morgan is a tea guy for sure. The potency and intrusiveness of seer magic can be worsened by substances, and that includes caffeine. Morgan doesn’t smoke, doesn’t drink, doesn’t take anything. He drinks herbal tea, sometimes decaf black tea. He likes a decaf London Fog when he’s feeling fancy, but often drinks his tea with just a splash of milk and two sugars.

Guy

Red Bull energy. This man drinks energy drinks like he isn’t blessed by the gods with an unholy amounts of hyperactivity. Since he does have adhd, caffeine often makes him sleepy. He can be found drinking Red Bulls of all flavors at all hours of the day. They’re the only things that manage to get him out of the absolute energy slump he has first thing in the morning, but he has been known to drink them late into the night. He’s also a fan of a vodka Red Bulls.

Aaron

Black coffee. And not good black coffee, either. He likes the instant shit. Coffee so tough he can chew it. He’s had good coffee before. Freshly ground French presses, premium Italian blends, single origins from the heart of the coffee belt. And yet, nothing satisfies him like Folgers instant. Smartass does have a fancy ass espresso machine, but he refuses to use it, and only politely sips the sugar-filled lattes they lovingly make for him.

Elliot

Elliot loves coffee. It’s a byproduct of his trade. Maybe it’s a stereotype to say that all dreamwalkers love coffee, but given that he spends the majority of his day asleep, it helps when he has to be conscious and functional. Elliot loves cold brew, since it’s a really concentrated brew. He makes his own using a very dark roast. He likes it a bit sweet, a bit creamy, but he really loves

Joys:

Found a leaf to meditate on throughout the day in blazing colours, pet a dog named Milo who kissed my hands and whose excitement at being loved was palpable, saw dryer-lint clouds scudding across the sky so fast, saw leaves whirling into the air like notes caught up and scattered. Read the first chapter of Inciting Joy by Ross Gay on the bus and felt it tug on me.

Walked to the coffee shop and when I came inside the barista said yeah you better come in here and not walk on by and we smalltalk shot the shit while I got a cayenne-orange coffee. Went next door to the bodega-style store that was being restocked on fresh fish and other sundries and whose delivery people were polite, excuse me, thank you, and the owner went to the cafe next door to get me little containers of butter and a knife so that I could have those to serve with the sourdough I got for any of us who are at work today. Also Milano double-chocolate cookies. And the loaf was gone by end of day, and the cookies well-munched.

The smell of a perfume I wore that reminds me of two people at once and that I can enjoy by holding my inner wrist up to my face, interesting weathering shades and tones on concrete, seeing construction workers stretch and hold ladders steady for each other, heartbreaker chile made by El.

Listening through a playlist and feeling happy with the flow of it at last. Warm breeze on a lunch walk. Everyone cutting each other a bit of slack, a lot of grace, don't worry about it.

Lovely convos on and off by text with a best dearheart friend. My coworkers and I wishing each other a night, be well, take care.

Having a space to gather in for a bit after work and eat dinner in community. A dog who's happy to see us. Juniper and cedar notes in a fizzy beverage. Floor time. Lying back with my eyes closed and listening. Improvised music featuring a drum set, a bass, piano, flute, and trumpet as well as hand percussion and humming. Sometimes fumbling and not-working but working towards. Sometimes harmonious and fluid and "clicked" into place. A period of silence in the middle of the improvised sound. Candles. And a room to retreat to while others in the gathering space clamoured, and it felt like being younger and listening to the party in the next room while taking a sensory and stimulation break. The joy of building a grilled cheese at a DIY bar in the two-person kitchen and someone else cooking it for me, assembly line style. My friend present there letting me share their tomato soup because there was only one bowl left but they wanted to let me dunk my grilled cheese. All of us in the room promising to talk to our therapists and resolve emotional residues before committing to a major change in our hairstyle because we all kinda wanna buzzcut down to near-bald again. And texting, again with dearheart friend, about playlist brainstorming, which is playful and felt good. And breaking a glass in an improvised wreck room. And the casual presence of group chats.

And a hot shower.

And posting this that I've been working on since 9 am this morning, to see how the little things can add up, which has always been something I can do to get through and then get to it.

What The Redacted Characters Would Get

(this is just my opinion, but as a barista this is also the correct opinion /j)

Shaw Pack:

David- you might think he'd just get like, a black coffee, you'd be wrong. He gets a hot white mocha triple with no whip, only sometimes he'll get it iced. Depending on how exhausted he is, he'll add more shots.

(dumb head cannon time, a regular (s) comes in and gets a hot triple white mocha and a iced triple white mocha with no whip. It's a couple, and they alternate who gets the drinks every couple days. I think it'd be kind of cute if David's dad and mom used to do the same, and now David drinks a hot triple white mocha with no whip because of his parents, specifically his dad)

Asher- he used to get pink drinks all the time, but then David realized that all the refreshers have a shit ton of caffeine, so now he gets a strawberry creme frappe with a scoop of vanilla bean powder. It's still very sweet, and a lot of sugar, but it does not have caffeine which everyone is appreciative of.

Milo- iced caramel macchiato with almond milk and a quad shot, this man is lactose intolerant and you cannot tell me otherwise. And no, he does not care that Starbucks doesn't make a 'correct' macchiato, it tastes good and has caffeine, so he doesn't care.

side note, Aggro has tried a pup cup before, it did give him explosive diarrhea (as it does to a lot of pets). Milo will never give him another one, however, sweetheart did make the mistake of feeding him one early in their relationship, and it also ended an explosive diarrhea. So Aggro is no longer allowed pup cups

Christian- Normally he gets a iced Americano, but if he's going to a pack meeting he gets a pink drink just to spite Asher.

Angel- a Connoisseur of seasonal drinks. Tries each of the seasonal releases until they find one they love, and drinks it until it's gone. If there aren't any seasonal drinks, or they don't like them, they get a peppermint mocha frappe (because yes, Starbucks does have peppermint year round)

Baabe- Iced matcha latte with caramel syrup and drizzle. Matcha has a decent amount of caffeine and Starbuck matcha is also mostly sugar, so it's a nice pick me up. If it's too cold for that, they'll get a hot chocolate.

Sweetheart- This bitch (affectionate) gets two vanilla sweet cream nitro cold brews and a venti cup of ice, bc the biggest size of nitro cold brew Starbucks can legally sell is a grande bc of all the caffeine. So this bitch (again, affectionate) gets two and pours them into one cup. Milo is very concerned for their health.

Darlin'/Tank- like sweetheart, I see them wanting/needing a shit ton of caffeine, so they also get two nitro cold brews. But they'd probably go from the salted caramel cream cold brew and would drink them separately.

Solaire Clan: (idc if canonically caffeine doesn't affect them, I make my own rules bitch)

William- Hot mocha with raspberry syrup. I know that sounds weird, but it basically tastes like chocolate strawberries. His drinks have changed over time, but currently this is his favorite.

Alexis- Blonde roast with caramel and oatmilk. This sounds simple, but fun fact: Starbucks stops brewing blonde & dark after 11am (mostly smaller stores do this), and she always comes after that and ends up having the baristas make a pour over, then bitches over how long it takes to get her drink.

Vincent- French vanilla latte, which at Starbucks is vanilla and hazelnut, so it's very sweet. He also gets it with oatmilk, just bc it tastes good. Gets it either hot or iced depending.

Sam- London fog latte, no water. I see him as a tea guy, idk. Sometimes he gets a few shots in it, but it depends.

Lovely- chai creme frappe. They like chai (even if the Starbucks chai is not even close in taste to real chai lol) and normally get it with cinnamon powder on top and in it.

D.A.M.N:

Gavin- Changes every time, since he doesn't need nutrients, he just wants sugar and fun tasting shit (this also goes for the vamps, but more for Gavin) he will make up the most random combinations, but if it's super busy he'll try to be simpler for the poor baristas. Mostly fruity combos and overly sweet frappes.

Damien- iced soy latte with 3 stevia, with a minimum of four shots, maximum he's done is, like 11 (Yes, I have put 11 shots in an espresso drink, I imagine it tasted like shit). He's basic but really just needs caffeine and something to hydrate so he'll ask for a water too.

Huxely- matcha. and if you say it tastes like grass to this man, he will say yes, it does, but he likes grass. Probably gets a matcha frappe to be specific, sometimes asks for vanilla syrup. Very sweet and caffeinated.

Lasko- here's the dilemma, tired boi needs caffeine, but anxious boi does not need caffeine. So with friends around he gets decaf, but by himself... Iced brown sugar shaking espresso with six blonde shots. No, he's not hiding his caffeine intake, he wouldn't be very good at it if he tried it lol.

Kody- tiny bitch boy (extremely hostile) gets an extra dry vanilla cappuccino, and will send it back at least once because he says "it's not dry enough".

Freelancer- strawberry acia lemonade refresher, with peach juice, no strawberry pieces, and light ice. That's their go to, however, if they need more caffeine, they will order just an iced quad espresso with liquid sugar.

Calleum- there's this weird "secret menu" item called the cotton candy frappe, which is really just a vanilla bean frap with raspberry syrup, that is what he gets, and he would also like chocolate drizzle and chocolate crumbles on top. He is not allowed to have caffeine, I don't care if it affects daemons or not, he's not allowed to have it.

Everyone else:

Aaron- boring bitch (affectionate) just gets a medium roast coffee with light cream. He wants to put the splenda in himself, I don't know why but he does. Smartass has convinced him to get an espresso frappuccino with a shot on top, he didn't hate it. So that's progress.

SmartAss- gets an espresso frappuccino, three shots, add whip. Basically an iced expresso with milk, but blended with some sugar. If it is freezing cold, they will just get it a triple expresso with heavy cream and sugar, but that is rare.

Ollie- very simple, non-fat vanilla latte, sometimes gets it iced, sometimes it's hot. However, he will always ask for a pup cup to take home for his cat (Yes, I did forget his cat's name) because unlike Aggro, it does not give Ollie's cat explosive diarrhea.

Baby- Get a sweet cream cold brew with light ice and extra sweet cream. Also asks for extra vanilla. For some reason I get vanilla flavored vibes from Ollie and Baby as a couple, not in a sexy way, just in a flavoring way. idk.

Geordie- He needs caffeine, but if he is over caffeinated his brain will basically short circuit and then he will take a two hour long nap. So he sticks to iced coffee, with sweet cream and caramel syrup. However, he also likes the hot chocolate with caramel in it as well. It depends on the day.

Cutie- iced shaken espresso with chocolate cream cold foam. The shaken expressos come with classic sweetener, which they like, and an extra shot. They will mix in the cold foam and the espresso so it tastes more like chocolate, without having to add any other syrups.

Elliot- French vanilla iced coffee with two blonde shots and soy milk. He gives me soy milk vibes, for some unknown reason. He doesn't always get the blonde shots, but more often than not he does. Iced coffee only has so much caffeine, and he has lots of work to do.

Sunshine- a medicine ball, which is another name for a honey citrus mint tea. It is jade citrus mint & peach tranquility tea, half steamed lemonade, half hot water, with honey blend. They like it because it's sweet, and doesn't have too much caffeine.

Guy- He tries all the different TikTok drinks, his favorite being an iced white mocha, sub whip for sweet cream cold foam, with caramel drizzle and lining the cup (This started being ordered like a couple months ago, and it hasn't stopped lol)

Honey- a honey almond flat white, with extra honey blend (This was not intentionally a pun, but now it is) it's sweet, but they can add as many espresso shots as they need. And they need it.

it was easy to feel like a ghost in a place called helltown. born and raised here, sam isn't sure if he's ever experienced an ounce of normalcy. a shy kid, and maybe even a little bit of a late bloomer, sam always felt like he was a step behind everyone else especially his peers. while he was intelligent he didn't utter a single word until the ripe age of six. he never felt the need too, nor the urge. he liked observing, absorbing and taking the world in with wide eyes. it wasn't until his mother worried like a sick hen that she finally sent him to a speech therapist. it was only then he began to speak even if he didn't necessarily want too. Because of this Sam was labeled as the weird, odd kid at school. who sat alone at lunch and was picked last for dodgeball. sometimes his father joked that he came into the world upside down. that instead of happy bubbly bouncing baby that they expected to get they received a child who seemed emotionless and quiet which was the farthest thing from the truth. in fact sam felt things too much, too deeply at times. friends and family would call him sensitive, but it was more to it than that. his heart worked just fine, as a healthy one should. blood pumping regularly, the valves opening and closing; everything functioning as it should. But Sam feels something has always been wrong, when moments of joy register as brief but ecstatic, and moments of pain stretch long and unbearably loud. His mother tried to comfort him and tell him that everything would be fine, that this was just the highs and lows of life but sam couldn't believe it, knew that no one understood. When his father passed from a bad case of ammonia as a teen thats when things really started to go downhill. the grief was maddening and never-ending. his once loving mother turned cold and sour--dealing with her own grief she turned inwards and isolated herself, especially from her only son. maybe because he looked too much like his father for his mother to bear, or maybe because he had always felt like an extreme disappointment. it didn't matter because sam convinced himself that both statements were true.

from that day sam lingered through the world like a ghost. invisible and unnoticed. he didn't attempt to make friends at school or interact with people beyond that. it was lonely of course but he didn't know what to do with himself, all these feelings that seemed to pour out of his heart. everything felt like a massive boulder caving into his chest. once he graduated he moved out of his family home and still stuck around helltown. he wasn't really sure why. he figured he could start a new life somewhere else, find somewhere he truly belonged but he was beginning to believe that didn't exist for a phantom like him.

he landed a job at rook coffee on a whim that they were just low on staff. his life went on as normal and while a coffee shop wasn't what he dreamed of doing as a career he can't find himself quitting. he actually enjoys being a barista even if he remains invisible behind the counter. at least he has some sort of daily interaction even if it's meaningless. as an adult he has made a few lifelong friends--ones who accepted him and all his damaged goods but he still has a hard time with keeping in touch with them on a regular. a flaw he acknowledges that lies somewhere between his upbringing and genetic dna.

growing up he was always surrounded by the peculiar and deranged, and like most grown ups they ignored the towns strange happenstances, and he too at a certain age began to ignore them too. every year there seemed to be a missing person or thing--to the point where sam started to lose count. it was hard to care after a certain point especially when you felt misplaced in your own birth place. however as he got older and had more time on his hands than he knew what to do with he started to look into these unsolved mysteries finding himself wrapped up in these stories like a ball of tangled yarn. it's a hobby he's not exactly proud of but he can't help but to deep dive into helltowns conspiracies.

Kiff Review

Kiff is a musical comedy animated series by Lucy Heavens and Nic Smal. They are known for their work in the animation industry, either script writing, storyboarding, or voice acting. This post will have spoilers.

Reprinted from Pop Culture Maniacs and Wayback Machine. This was the twenty-seventh article I wrote for Pop Culture Maniacs. This post was originally published on March 27, 2023.

The plot of Kiff focuses on a young flying squirrel named Kiff Chatterley (voiced by Kimiko Glenn), who is friends with a mellow bunny named Barry Buns (H. Michael Croner) in a magical land, within the mountains, known as Table Town. Both go on adventures in and around the town.

Like other Disney series airing this year, Kiff is aimed at kids and families. This is clear from the format, similar to many episodes of Amphibia, Milo Murphy's Law, and Phineas and Ferb. Each 22-minute episode is divided into two 11-minute segments. In typical Disney fashion, there is a musical number in almost every episode.

Apart from the animating powerhouse of Disney Television Animation, a well-known animation studio, Titmouse, is producing the series. The same studio is known for series such as Cleopatra in Space, Star Trek: Lower Decks, The Midnight Gospel, Q-Force, Inside Job, Pantheon, My Dad the Bounty Hunter,  The Legend of Vox Machina, Fairfax, and Chicago Party Aunt.

Many of the voice actors in Kiff are well-experienced. Glenn previously voiced Paperstar in Carmen Sandiego, Katherine-Alice in Welcome to the Wayne, Tomiko in Elena of Avalor, and Nomi in Dogs in Space, to name a few roles. Deedee Magno Hall, who voices Deer Teacher in the series, is best known for voicing Pearl in Steven Universe. Furthermore, James Monroe Iglehart and Lauren Ash, who voice Kiff's parents, prominently voiced characters in series such as Tangled, Helluva Boss, Elena of Avalor, and She-Ra and the Princesses of Power.

Keen listeners might recognize Rachel House, voice of Barry's mother, or Nichole Sakura, voice of Barry's sister. Both had prominent voice roles in Moana and OK K.O.!: Let's Be Heroes. Personally, I was familiar with voice actors Katie Crown and Rhys Darby because they voiced characters in Cleopatra in Space. The former also voiced Ivy in Amphibia. Furthermore, Darby voiced a variety of characters in Milo Murphy's Law, We Bare Bears, Welcome to the Wayne, Star vs. the Forces of Evil, and Infinity Train. It was great to hear Vella Vowell, who voices Candle Fox, again. I remembered her impressive voice acting as Princess Mermista in She-Ra and the Princesses of Power and as the No Tattoo Barista (which later turned into a CBD Monster) in the lesser-known Magical Girl Friendship Squad.

Kiff snagged the well-regarded Eric Bauza and Tom Kenny. From my years of watching animated series, I was familiar with Bauza as Scoops in Ollie & Scoops, as well as Kenny for two roles: Ice King in Adventure Time and Yancy Fry in Futurama. In this series, Bauza voices Reggie and a scrupulous TV producer named Roy Fox, while Kenny voices multiple characters in the series. A stand-up comedian named Josh Johnson also voices Barry's brother, Harry.

The show's animation is expressive and colorful. However, it pales in comparison to Amphibia, The Owl House, or Adventure Time. In some ways, Phineas and Ferb is put together better, as is Milo Murphy's Law. All in all, the show is a bit funny, but not laugh-out-loud funny. Drama is more a strong suit for the series than comedy.

The first twelve episodes of the series are double-episodes. They introduce viewers to the characters, allowing you to get a feeling for their lives. More than anything, they make it clear that Kiff is not serialized like Steven Universe, Tangled, or Milo Murphy's Law (especially the second season). Instead, each episode seems in its own world, without being connected to another. If some rumors are correct about upcoming Hailey's On It! and Iwaju, it appears that Disney series are moving in this direction. This is evidenced by the fact that the recently aired Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur uses serialized storytelling.

However, the recently aired Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur uses serialized storytelling as does the upcoming Hailey's On It! and Iwaju, if reports are correct.

Kiff has some elements reminding me of the Futurama episode openings, like fake adverts at the beginning of each episode. At the same time, the series is different than what has come before since the show creators, Heavens and Smal, who voice characters in the series, are from Cape Town, South Africa. As a result, their life-stories are undoubtedly integrated into the series itself. Furthermore, the show's directors include animators for Black Dynamite, 6Teen, and Amphibia, with this career experience enhancing the show even more.

The series emphasizes the importance of acceptance, friendship, self-worth, and notoriety. The latter is shown in the extreme by Roy Fox, who makes trashy reality shows in order to profit from people's misery. In a manner similar to the focus on education in many anime series, Kiff seems to imply that education is important to achieving your dreams and that school shouldn't be skipped, no matter what. This stands diametrically opposed to what is shown in Birdie Wing: Eve, one of the show's protagonists, is a terrible student, but remains at the premiere golf academy because she is a sports star.

There are many other themes focused in Kiff. For instance, the episode "Career Day", when Kiff and Barry get a part-time job at city hall, implies that mass records destruction is fine as long as you cut through the "red tape". This contrasts with commentary about overly technical bureaucracy in Hilda and Futurama, to name two series. Such a negative theme in "Career Day" is offset by episodes which accentuate family togetherness and honesty.

As a person who has reviewed media with libraries and librarians in pop culture since July 2020, and with a MLIS degree, it should be no surprise one of my favorite episodes of Kiff was "Club Book". In he episode, Kiff learns the value of quietness in the library after turning the library into a club scene. I thought it was interesting that the librarian, voiced by Aparna Nancherla, is made more relatable than most. Her character, Miss Moufflé, somewhat bucking stereotypes, while reinforcing them at the same time, as she shushes people but also likes souffles.

Similar to other series, the value of libraries as a place of knowledge and learning is affirmed in Kiff. In some ways, the episode reminded me of the "Quiet Riot" episode of The Replacements, in which the show's protagonist, Todd, causes the shushing librarian in charge of the school library replaced by a rockstar. However, he later regrets his decision, resulting in the original librarian returning to her job.

Currently, Kiff is almost half-way through its series order of 30 episodes. It is hard to know where the series will go from here. Even so. I am more optimistic about this series than Hamster & Gretel, which has fallen flat, despite the fact that Dan Povenmire is the show's creator. Instead, the series has episodes somewhat mimicking absurdity and, even hilarity (to an extent), which are present in Phineas and Ferb. The latter, in fact, was recently renewed for more two seasons.

Even so, Kiff will probably never measure-up to the strength of four-season animated magical comedy powerhouse of Phineas and Ferb, a series even mentioned in an episode of Better Things, a comedy-drama by Pamela Adlon, who voiced some characters in the series. Despite this, Kiff will chart its own path, perhaps different than what has come before. After all, both creators are said to be a "brilliant creative team".

Although Disney has recently removed release dates from the upcoming Tiana and Moana series, clearly Kiff is part of a trend by the company to feature more diverse series. This year is bound to bring series such as Iwáju and Hailey's On It!, while there are others in production such as Cookies & Milk and Primos.

It is further possible that Disney is producing Molly Ostertag's Neon Galaxy, a series reportedly about a trans princess. In any case, diverse series are on the horizon for Disney, especially more than HBO Max, a network which has been struggling to find its corporate identity since David Zaslav became CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate. It is said that the streaming service has Iyanu: Child of Wonder and Lumberjanes in production.

The first 12 episodes of Kiff are currently airing on Disney+ and all twelve episodes have aired on the Disney Channel. Four new episodes will air on the Disney Channel on April 1st and later be added on Disney+.
